Dinner, on me!

When your friend tells you they want to start a foodie account on Instagram you always support and ask how you can help! One of my best friends came to me asking about creating a logo for his foodie journey and I was so in, without him even really saying anything. I always enjoy flexing my design muscles outside of the corporate work projects I work on, so this was a nice breathe of fresh air in the design space for me.

The Challenge

This project all started as just creating a logo, but in my normal fashion I took the idea and ran with it. I just took some of Kevin's favorite foods and some design guidance and built a very whimsical brand around his love for coffee, doughnys (that's what we call doughnuts), dumplings and burgeys (that's what we call burgers).

The Design Process.

It all started with some food favorites and a little bit of Kevin's personality transferred into a design style. He loves patches and pins, so I figured why not start with that as the basis of his logo. Something simple and iconic that could be made into patches and pins. As you can see below there are some of my initial sketches for the Dinner, on me! brand.

After deciding which of these best represented Kevin, the foodie, I took his vision and pushed it a little further as a birthday gift for him and more fun work for me. I have this love for writing even though I rarely flex that muscle at my day job so I wanted to give him a quirky business card that he could hand out/leave with waiters at restaurants letting them know that he enjoyed his meal and it would help drive traffic to his Instagram page. I also created some stickers, cause who doesn't love stickers..right?

Maybe one day we will expand to some more merch to really push this brand, either way it's a 10 in my book of fun side projects!
